The Company was founded in 1997 with a focus on distribution. Over the course of several years, it transformed from a successful distributor of finished products into a promising player in the market for farmed salmon.
In 2007, we acquired our first trout farm in Karelia, which was the starting point on our path to creating a leading vertically integrated business for farming commercial Atlantic salmon.
Business growth and the early days
of being a publicly traded company
During this phase, we consistently increased our number of farming sites in the lakes of Karelia and the waters of the Barents Sea with a total potential farming volume of more than 30,000 tons, launched new fish farms and also acquired a facility for primary fish processing.
In 2010, the Company carried out an initial public offering (IPO) of its shares on the Moscow Exchange, which raised USD 90 million, and became the first publicly traded company in the Russian fishing industry.
By the end of 2016, the Company had sold all its non-core subsidiaries and was focusing completely on the development of its aquaculture segment.
Vertical integration and a new brand
Over the past five years, the Company has become a leading vertically integrated player in the Russian market. We have focused on developing infrastructure for the production of juvenile Atlantic salmon and sea trout, acquired a fish processing plant, conducted a secondary public offering (SPO) on the Moscow Exchange and paid out our first dividends.
In 2020, we launched our own B2C brand of chilled red fish, and we later changed the name of the entire Company, which enabled us to complete our corporate rebranding and to combine our production and business under a single brand — INARCTICA.
